The The High River Career & Employment Centre is currently hiring an Information Resource Specialist (contract to March 31, 2019, with the possibility of extension) The ideal candidate will have: • Some form of post-secondary education and experience working in a client-based industry • Basic understanding of the career planning process • Computer training an asset • Exposure to seminars or training programs/affiliation with professional associations related to career development
  • Duties:

    Position Pillars include:

    • Career and employment coaching to clients
    • Share in the responsibility of workshop delivery
    • Provide job search assistance
    • Provide counseling to overcome barriers to employment
    • Client engagement/relationship building
    • Administer career assessments
    • Assist clients with identifying educational requirements and develop training plans
    • Assist clients with developing an informed choice and action plan
    • Maintain knowledge of the local labor market information for the area and resources available to clients
    • Assist clients with implementing effective employment search strategies, writing resumes, developing career portfolios and interview skills
    • Refer clients to appropriate services to address their particular needs
    • Work co-operatively with community groups and agencies, businesses and other organizations
    • Write reports and research information on the internet
    • Maintain files contact notes and update service plans
    • Group facilitation: to facilitate workshops on various topics required by the community (i.e. resume writing, job search and career planning)
    • Creation of action plans
    • Attend meetings and act as company representative when required
